NWEA Map testing - Reading will take place on Wednesday and Thursday this week.
Here is what they will be learning this week.
Religion: Students will study Jesus and "The Sermon on the Mount"
Math: Students will continue learning about angles including measurement and identification of Reflex Angles. There will be homework on Wednesday week.
Language Arts & Reading: Students will continue reading Number the Stars by Lois Lowry. They will have a spelling test on Friday this week.
Students are required to read 20 minutes each night and take the AR tests online at school upon completion of each book read. A 9-week participation grade is taken for each student.
Science: Students will learn about "Structures and Functions of Plants" in chapter 9 of the McGraw Hill text. They will complete an investigation Students explore how the wax found on the leaves of some plants functions to conserve water loss.
History: Students will continue studying World War II and complete a presentation from one of three chapters surrounding the war and Allies v. Axis powers. There will not be a written test for these chapters.
I welcome your communication with me, and want you to take any opportunity to set conference times or email. My teacher conference times this year are Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 1:20-2:20. I can certainly accommodate an afterschool conference when necessary, due to conflicting work schedules.
